Which digital format to choose

A DVD holds two hours of video and can be played on computers and home DVD players. Multiple tapes can be combined on a DVD, with table of contents for easy navigation.

A flash drive (USB) holds about 6 hours of video in the MP4 format. This will play on your computer, some "smart" TV sets, and on many digital phones.

A hard drive's capacity is limited only by its size. Files can be in the MP4 format or in the AVI format for easy editing. In the AVI format approximately 14 GB of storage is required for each hour of video.


Unfortunately Apples and PCs don't mix very well. Ours is a PC world. We cannot convert and download to hard drives that are formatted for Apple computers.

The Cost:
All tapes are timed before being digitized. You will not be charged for blank tape.
$10.00 per half hour of source material.

Flash drives supplied by VideOccasions are billed at market prices, about $6.50 for an 8gb drive, $10.00 for a 16gb.

Download from your camera

Camera manufacturers have created proprietary file formats and unique ways of downloading from camera to computer. We're often asked to download video from a camera's hard drive or from a camera memory card. We can usually do this, especially if we have the software that came with the camera. It's also helpful if you can bring us the cables and any documentation that came with the camera.

Camera downloads are done at the customer's risk.
