Many of the videographers and photographers were amateur and student volunteers. Together they produced a great many hours of video and dozens of photographs. VideOccasions' Judy, at that time a member of the Professional Event Videographers Association Northwest, coordinated video as a community outreach activity for the Association and edited the resulting material into a 90 minute documentary of the event, focusing a great deal of the piece on the individual vehicles (since that was what the participants wanted to see.)
We felt that this worthy event merited a place on the web and have recently re-edited the material to a workable length, capturing the spirit and some of the detail of the event.
The rally had 250 entrants and raised about $3500 for ALS research. It continues annually to the present.
"Cruise for the Cure"
A VW Rally in Support of the fight against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)
This rally, sponsored by Franklin's VW Werks, Kent WA was held in 2005, the second year of the Cruise. While the goal of the rally was to raise money for the fight against ALS, it was also about getting VWs out there where others could see them, and about having a grand time at Snoqualmie Summit and over lunch at Sammamish State Park.
